Contribute to the Living Archive
Bharatanatyam is passed down through people, and no single collection can document every teacher, lineage, or experience. This project is an ongoing effort to record some of that knowledge and make it available for others to study.
If you learn, teach, perform, or research Bharatanatyam, you can help expand the living archive.
Ways to contribute
- Share an oral history
- Record or write about a lesson you remember, a teacher who shaped your practice, or something you hope future dancers will carry forward.
- Add context or a correction
- If you notice an error, have an alternative interpretation, or can provide useful context for an existing entry, your contribution can help make the archive more accurate.
- Contribute a śloka recording
- Recordings from other teachers or lineages can help document differences in pronunciation and recitation that the current corpus does not represent.
- Share a translation or explanation
- Translations and contextual notes in Tamil, Hindi, or other languages can help make the material accessible to a wider community.
